On arrival and at the end of their stunning jetty, you will be greeted with a refreshing towel and served their tropical punch of the day. One of the team will introduce themselves to you as your personal guide for the day too.
Really though, for those wanting to relax all day there is almost everything else you could wish for to unwind, whether it’s a sun bed, a hammock or some games (think petanque, beach football, volleyball, giant chess and others…). Alternatively, you can just stroll around the sandy paths around the island, taking about 15-20 minutes to gently loop back to the start.
Although there are various packages available, most offer all inclusive food and drinks (even locally produced beer, rhum, wine and spirits)- ! Their rhum is a perfect touch to the island as they offer a vast selection of home brewed specials such as coconut, banana and chilli. The food is truly fantastic as well. There is lots of choice whether you want a BBQ, salad, noodles or roti- it’s fresh and flavoursome and it is cooked in front of you. And despite their informal beach style, lunch is served with a full table service and tasting of their local wine, I must say, LUX* don’t disappoint with their well known 5 star service here.
For those water lovers, not only is all of this included but you also have freedom to use their arranged water activities at will – which you’ll most likely want to take up as the island is blessed with some of the most gloriously inviting sea – a snorkellers paradise. Again, there are plenty of enjoyable activities for you to make the most of the setting, including: glass bottom boat experience; scuba diving with instructors; three island visit (famous islands of Iles aux Phares, île de la Passe and île aux Aigrettes) and small game fishing.
All in all, Ile Des Deux Cocos offers a lovely day break for couples or families and it’s a must do to make sure your trip is made even more special. A private island in the middle of the Indian ocean with delicious food and drinks and plenty of ways to pass the time, what’s not to love? And what’s more, if you really fall in love with it you can actually book the whole island privately and stay in it’s beautiful Moroccan inspired Villa, able to sleep 6 and that comes with a full-time staff of 10. Now that really is Mauritian hospitality.
The inside of the private villa, regal living for a day! Arrange it in advance (and mention this blog for a discount!). Completely refurbished in 2000, expect a wonderfully inspired Moroccan home, full of thoughtful and high standard touches- not to mention the wonderful seating area on their terrace with views of Blue Bay.
Sad to leave, but it won’t be long until we’re back!
